1.Who We Are
Odd Thunder is an independent game studio run by a private individual. It is not currently a registered company or other legal entity.
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, the people who run Odd Thunder are the controller responsible for the personal information described in this Privacy Policy. You can contact us by email at support@oddthunder.com.
2.Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Odd Thunder website at oddthunder.com and to personal information we process in connection with the Services.
Brands. Some projects are published under brands or labels, which may have their own teams, and some are powered by Odd Thunder. Unless a brand or project provides its own privacy notice, this Privacy Policy applies to it on the Services. Where a brand or project has its own privacy notice, that notice applies to it, and this Privacy Policy covers anything it does not address.
Games and software you download. Games, applications and tools you download from the Services run on your own device. If a project collects any information when you use it, its page or its own privacy notice will say so.
Third parties. This Privacy Policy does not cover websites, stores, platforms or services operated by others, even when we link to them or show their content. Their own privacy policies apply.
3.Using the Services From Your Country
The Services are available worldwide, and laws differ from country to country. As set out in our Terms of Service, by using the Services you agree to follow the laws and rules of the country or region where you live or from which you access them.
Privacy laws also differ between countries. Where the law of your country gives you additional privacy rights, we will respect them as that law requires.
4.Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little personal information as possible. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not take payments, and we do not use analytics services. Parts of the Services, and some of our games and apps, show advertising, as described in “Advertising” below.
Technical information collected automatically. Like virtually every website, when your browser connects to the Services, our hosting, content delivery and file storage providers automatically receive and log certain technical information. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language settings, the referring page, the pages and files you request, and the date and time of each request. The same happens when one of our games or apps checks our website for updates. This information is needed to deliver the Services to you and to keep them secure.
Download counts. We count how many times each file is downloaded. These counts are simple totals and are not linked to you.
Information you send us. If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, the content of your message and any attachments.
Information stored on your device. The Services remember a few of your choices in your browser, as described in “Cookies and Similar Technologies” below.
Sensitive information. We do not ask for sensitive personal information, such as information about health, religion or political views. Please do not send it to us.
5.How We Use Information
We use personal information only to:
- deliver the Services to you, including pages, images, videos and downloads;
- keep the Services secure and working properly, including detecting and preventing abuse, attacks and fraud;
- understand which projects are popular, using download totals;
- let our games and apps check for updates;
- show advertising that helps keep the Services free, as described in “Advertising” below;
- read and reply to messages you send us; and
- comply with the law, enforce our Terms of Service and protect our rights and the rights of others.
We do not sell personal information, we do not build advertising profiles about you ourselves, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
6.Legal Bases for Processing
Where the law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, such as in Kosovo, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we rely on the following:
- Legitimate interests: to provide, secure and improve the Services and to understand how they are used, where these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms;
- Consent: where you choose to contact us or to save a choice in your browser, for personalised advertising where the law requires consent, and in any other case where we ask for your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before; and
- Legal obligations: where we must process information to comply with the law.
8.Advertising
Advertising helps keep Odd Thunder and its projects free.
On the website. Pages of the Services may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked whether you agree to personalised ads before they are shown, and you can change your choice at any time. If you do not agree, you may still see non-personalised ads, which use information such as your general location and the page you are viewing.
In our games and apps. Some of our games and apps show ads through Google AdMob or similar advertising networks. These services may collect information from your device, such as its advertising identifier, IP address, device model, app usage and crash data. They use it to show, measure and improve ads and to prevent fraud. You can reset your advertising identifier or limit ad personalisation in your device settings. A game's page or its own privacy notice tells you if it shows ads.
In games you play in your browser. Some games you play on the Services show ads through Google's H5 Games Ads, including optional rewarded ads that you choose to watch in exchange for an in-game reward. Google receives the same kinds of information, and you have the same choices, as for ads on the website described above.
We do not show ads on pages for projects rated for adults, and games made for children are set up to show only ads that are suitable for them where the law requires it.
Advertising partners process information under their own privacy policies.
9.Embedded Content and Other Platforms
Videos. Some pages show trailers or background videos hosted by third-party video platforms. Preview images may load when you open the page. Some background videos start automatically, and other videos load when you press play. When this content loads, your browser connects directly to the video platform. That platform may receive your IP address and device information and may use cookies, under its own privacy policy. Where available, we use privacy-enhanced versions of these players.
Links. The Services link to other websites and platforms, such as game platforms, stores, social networks and code-hosting sites. When you follow a link, the other site's privacy policy applies.
Project information. To show details such as star counts for our open-source projects, our servers request public information about our own projects from code-hosting platforms. No information about you is sent with these requests.
11.International Transfers
Our service providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including in the European Union and the United States. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from yours.
Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards provided by our service providers, such as contractual commitments to protect your information.
12.How Long We Keep Information
- Technical logs are kept by our providers for limited periods, according to their own practices and as needed for security and to deliver the Services.
- Messages you send us are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your message, and are then deleted. We may keep them longer if the law requires it, or to resolve a dispute.
- Download totals are kept for as long as the project is published. They are not linked to you.
- Choices saved in your browser stay on your device until you clear them.
13.Security
We protect the Services with reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted administrative access and secure providers. However, no method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14.Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your information;
- restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent; and
- lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in the country where you live.
To exercise these rights, contact us by email at support@oddthunder.com. We will respond within one month, or within the time required by applicable law. We may need to confirm your identity first. Exercising your rights is free, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
Because we collect very little information, we may not be able to find any information about you. For example, we cannot match technical logs to a person without additional details.
We do not sell personal information for money. Some U.S. state laws treat the use of advertising cookies by our ad partners as “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out of this at Google Ads Settings, by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser where it is supported, or by contacting us.
15.Children's Privacy
The Services are meant for a general audience. Some projects carry age ratings, and projects for adults ask visitors to confirm they are 18 or older. This confirmation is a self-declaration, not an identity check.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before sending us any personal information.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, please contact us by email at support@oddthunder.com, and we will delete it.
16.Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we change how the Services work. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we will make it clearly visible on the Services.
17.Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle personal information, or if you want to exercise your rights, please contact us by email at support@oddthunder.com.
